Arlene Santos widely known as Arlene The Salsa Queen is a passionate and highly respected salsa and Latin dance teacher, performer, choreographer, and community leader, with over 20 years dedicated to sharing her love of Latin dance through teaching, performing, coaching, and choreography.

She is co-owner of Lumina Academy of Dance in Pasadena, CA — a community-oriented dance studio where she helps students of all levels learn to dance in a joyful and supportive environment. Her teaching style emphasizes strong fundamentals, musicality, lead-and-follow connection, and most importantly, confidence, expression, and fun on the dance floor.

She is the co-founder of Queer Latin Dance LA, one of few queer-centered Latin dance communities in Los Angeles County. Through her work, Arlene is deeply committed to creating inclusive, affirming spaces where dancers of all identities feel seen, celebrated, and empowered.

Known for her warmth, energy, and contagious smile, Arlene has become a beloved figure in the salsa community. Her nickname, “The Salsa Queen,” reflects not only her talent, but also her leadership, generosity, and lasting impact on the Latin dance world.
